Welcome to my ‘Mentor’ page. By mentor I mean; guidance, support, advice, feedback and recommendations. I have created this extension of my writing journey to help you on your journey in discovering your writing voice – if that’s what you’re looking for – and hopefully, guide you into writing your very own book.

I can claim decades of writing experience – professional and personal – and years of numerous writing workshops and retreats, and over 18 months of personal one-on-one mentoring with a writing coach (of many degrees) in order to write my first book (a memoir), Every Shitty Thing. Adding up the financial cost of gaining my knowledge is a figure close to $60,000. The investment in myself has been invaluable. I knew in my heart of hearts there was no way I was putting my book out into the world if it wasn’t worthy of publishing.

I did land a publisher but decided to go it alone – I’m not really a control freak I swear. Had I known all the work involved I may have chosen the traditional route but I self-published my book in August 2018 and I haven’t looked back. It’s been an eye-opening venture of learning and absorbing which begs to be paid forward.

As a self-published author I am a trove of information. If I had to add up the additional time, money and resources I’ve invested I could have paid for one of those degrees twice over! I have a sh%#load of knowledge to share and offer to others.

I don’t know what your story is, but I’ll bet it’s worth sharing. You’ve landed on this page for a reason. We all have a book inside us. From celebrities to Uber drivers, everyone has a story to tell. I have four books inside me. Maybe I should be writing them instead of helping you but, this is calling me for now so I’m going with it.

I have been mentoring and coaching my entire life in one capacity or another. In recent years I’ve turned my focus to those who write or want to write. I’ve helped numerous up and coming soon-to-be authors by way of beta reading final manuscripts and giving constructive feedback. I’ve read first drafts and given detailed advice on structure and rewriting. I’ve provided recommendations to a network of experts I have access to in the field of writing and editing. Generous by nature, those I’ve helped in the past I did from the heart, out of goodwill, and loved every minute. But in this forward-thinking entrepreneurial world it’s time I step up and join the movement (paid workforce) again.

I’ve spent my entire life not putting much value or worth to my vast and varied abilities. I don’t do that to myself anymore. However, I’m not here to make a fortune. I do this because I love it. Writing and helping people is my happy place. Making money to me is the tedious yet necessary part of life.
